An Arab expatriate was handed nine months prison time and 90 lashes for blackmailing a woman and threatening to publish her photos unless she submitted to his illegitimate wishes. Sabq online daily reported that the man, who had lodgings close to the young woman’s house, somehow managed to get her photos. When he started blackmailing her, the woman complained to the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Haia.) On receiving a complaint from the young woman, the Haia members questioned the suspect and handed him to police.
