Sarawat wins three-way race for team honors

Sponsor team Sarawat won a three-way fight for Team of the Week honors in a performance that lined it up for a potential title run during the ninth session in the Thursday League 11th Season for Sarawat Superstores Cup at the Bowling City in Sultana Center.
Two weeks ago, Sarawat was pipped to the post for honors by Orient Watch. This time, the shoe was on the other foot though a third team, Pindot, was also in the mix.
Sarawat Superstores finished the session on 25.5 points with Orient Watch and Pindot tied on 25.
In a crowded leaderboard league leader D’ Barkads and D’ Engineers matched cards of 23 points. Habagat pooled 19 points, while Bulacan Knight, Fineboyz Rhinos and Bowling City occupied the last three places on 16.5, 12 and 11 points.
Rey Beltran of D’ Barkads won the individual Bowler of the Week race after shooting the high series of 663 on lines of 255, 200 and 202.
Sarawat shared the points for first and second places at the end of the first game and had to overcome a so-so last two games by posting the top overall output to edge out its rivals for the team award.
Orient Watch and Pindot failed to compensate after mixed results in two of their games.
Mohd. Amri was a pin shy of 600, Alex Flora tallied 560 and team captain Igna Salgado had 540 as the three players to go the distance for Sarawat. Contributing two games each were Bandr Al Dossari 203-202, Rene Punzalan 211-189 and Ed Viray 202-164.
The good showing by Sarawat enabled the team to improve a notch to second place in the team standings.
Enjoying good form the past few weeks, Orient Watch drew a pair of solid series from Danny Bautista 652 and Jowet Carion 624. Sami Al Qarni added 589, while Obie Ycasas, August Tendero and Jay Benco each had two games of 158-190, 156-170 and 183-162.
Over at Pindot, Jack Jarin registered the top score of 612 followed by Cesar Monares 568 and Ally Bin 566. The other scorers were Bonnie Garcia 212-188, Dylan Ilagan 187-188 and Phepz Niere 153-208.
Besides Beltran the others that helped built the D’ Barkads total were Dan Ednava 611, Rudy Valenzuela 565, Bing Amolo 168-183 and Leo Edejer 164.
