While some Jeddah residents prefer to spend the summer vacation visiting various parts of the Kingdom to enjoy the beautiful weather and lovely scenery in cities like Taif and Abha, many opt to stay within Jeddah and visit the numerous shopping centers and malls dotting the city or enjoy the activities of the annual Jeddah Ghair festival.
Mokhtar Shawky, a Jeddah resident told Arab News that he eagerly waited for the summer vacation to spend more time with his family and enjoy the beautiful scenery in places within the Kingdom such as the Al Shafa and Al Hada Heights in Taif as well as the As Sawda heights in Abha, besides the charming parks, scenic natural beauty and the entertainment facilities in these two cities.
“I love to travel by car with my family driving through the scenic landscapes and taking in the beautiful views in my country. There are so many places to visit in the Kingdom plus it is much cheaper than spending vacations abroad not to mention the agony of making reservations,” he added.
Like Shawky, Khalid Al-Akhdar, also a local resident in Jeddah, said traveling to foreign countries during the summer vacation is not an option for him, pointing out that many GCC citizens come to the Kingdom to enjoy its natural beauty.
“There are so many places in the country where people can go and have fun during the summer vacation. I am more into going to parks and malls and enjoying my time with my children,” he said, adding that many shopping centers and malls have their own summer amusement programs to attract visitors.
