Vivienda Hotel Villas and Holiday Inn Meydan make strong case for semifinals

RIYADH: Two newbies in the league namely Vivienda Hotel Villas and Holiday Inn Meydan are both looking good to advance to the semifinals on 3-2 and 3-1 win-loss cards respectively going into the fourth week session in the 29 th Riyadh Inter-Hotels Basketball Tournament at InterContinental Riyadh Hotel court here.
Vivienda Hotel Villas, the newest addition to growing family of the Inter-Hotels basketball, opened its campaign with an 89-49 crushing of once mighty Sheraton Hotel. This was followed by victories over Holiday Inn Al Qasr and Courtyard 63-58.
Vivienda’s losses were against Holiday Inn Meydan and Burj Rafal Kempinsky. Vivienda tests its mettle when it goes up against defending champion InterContinental (5-0) on Sunday, before taking on Novotel on Wednesday. Vivienda then closes its eliminations with a game on Oct. 30 against Marriott.
Holiday Inn Meydan ran its record to 3-1 thanks to wins against Novotel 97-32 , Vivienda 68-53 and Holiday Inn Al Qasr 91-76. Its only loss was against InterContinental. Next battle for HI-Meydan will be against another team to beat Marriot Hotel, which told Novotel to look elsewhere for a win when it handed the latter a 103-47 drubbing.
Meantime, InterCon defeated old rival Sheraton 95-78 in the game Sunday.
