Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award goes to Pink

JEDDAH: Pink’s 17-year music career will be honored at the MTV Video Music Awards with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
The Grammy-winning singer will receive the honor Aug. 27 at the Forum in Inglewood, California, MTV said Tuesday. She will also perform at the awards show.
The Vanguard award honors musicians who have had an impact on pop culture with their songs, fashion and music videos. Past winners include Madonna, Peter Gabriel, Beyonce and Justin Timberlake.
Other performers include Kendrick Lamar, Ed Sheeran, Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd, Lorde, Shawn Mendes and host Katy Perry.
Lamar is the top VMA contender with eight nominations.
Pink is a singer, songwriter, dancer and actress. She was signed to her first record label with original R&B girl group Choice in 1995. She released her debut album in 2000.
At the 63rd annual BMI Pop Awards, Pink received the BMI President’s Award for “her outstanding achievement in songwriting and global impact on pop culture and the entertainment industry.”
“Beautiful Trauma” is the upcoming seventh studio album by American singer. It will be released on October 13, 2017, by RCA Records, the album’s release was preceded by the release of the first single, “What About Us,” on August 10, 2017.
According to Nielsen SoundScan, Pink’s record sales stand at 16 million copies in the United States. Pink has sold over 47 million albums, over 70 million singles, and over 2.4 million DVDs worldwide.
