Hyderabad Sharks lift Ace Travel Saudi Cup

JEDDAH: Hyderabad Sharks demonstrated their might in an emphatic eight-wicket victory over MB Stars to lift the Ace Travel Saudi Cup for their first trophy in JCA-run tournaments.
Ace Travel and Tours sponsored the tournament organized by Jeddah Cricket Association under the leadership of CEO Muhammad Iqbal and President Aijaz Khan and organizing skills of its executive committee.
Batting first, MB Stars posted 202 runs in 20 overs for 6 wickets. Moazzam and Atiq Mansha started well and laid a solid foundation for their team.
Moazzam dropped an early innings bomb as he belted the bowlers all over the field for a superb 63 of 35 balls with 5 sixes and 2 fours. Matching him ball to ball was Mansha who played stylishly and scored 53 off 33 balls. Then Ameeq Mansha hit a quick 22.
Shahid, with 2 for 43, pegged them down while Mubashir and Hasan chipped in with a wicket each as MB Stars ended at 202.
Hyderabad Sharks went on the rampage from the first ball as Mohammed Shehzad made his intention clear and never looked back, racing to 64 off only 24 balls studded with 10 fours and 3 huge sixes. He received good support from Yasir 31 (13 balls 3 sixes 1 four).
After the departure of Shehzad, Saddam and Sheroz joined the fray to remain unbeaten with 51 and 45 respectively as Sharks reached the target of 203 for 2 in 15.1 overs with almost 5 overs to spare.
The prize distribution ceremony followed the match at the JCA ground. Ace Travel’s Syed Ashfaque Hussain was the guest of honor for the occasion.
He appreciated the excellent organization of tournament and and assured Ace Travel’s continued support of future JCA activities.
For his part, JCA CEO Iqbal thanked Ace management in general and Ashfaque Aleem, general manager Saudi Arabia, and Finance Director Shamshad Khan in particular for their continued support to JCA for the past eight years.
Ashfaque Hussain congratulated the champion team Hyderabad Sharks and runner-up MB Stars and wished the other participating teams better luck for future tournaments.
He then awarded the champion and runner-up cups and medals to the teams and performance awards to the individual performers as follows: Best Batsman Kashif (Pepsi Deccan Knights) 908 runs, Best Bowler Akbar (Pepsi Deccan Knights) 23 wickets and Best All Rounder Mohammed Shehzad (Hyderabad Sharks) 608 runs and 16 wickets.
