DUBAI: A 146 kg woman faces a life sentence for the alleged killing of a nine-year-old girl by sitting on her as punishment. As well as murder, Veronica Green Posey, 64, also faces the prospect of being charged with aggravated child abuse.
Posey told police and paramedics that she apparently sat on her cousin Dericka Lindsay because the girl was “out of control,” online news site The Metro reported,
The girl told Posey that she could not breathe during the punishment, which it is claimed lasted about 10 minutes. Even after the punishment was finished she still complained that she struggling to breathe.
The victim’s adoptive parents – Grace Smith and James Smith – who were at the scene at the time the girl was crushed, are facing charges of neglect. Posey was released on $125,000 bail.
