The architecture department at Dar Al-Hekma (DAH) University, in a strategic collaboration with the Saudi Council of Engineers, held an exhibition titled “Under Construction,” on May 20-21.
The exhibition works as a vision for the 40 graduating students. It aims to encourage them and to hone their architectural and design skills.
Dr. Suhair Hasan Al-Qurashi, president of the university, said: “At the end of the spring semester 2017- 2018, I would like to congratulate the architecture department for the remarkable work the students have produced.”
She said this catalog is the result of the students’ hard work and dedication and that it showcases their creative and innovative sides, reflecting a positive message that our architects can build creative and sustainable architecture.
At Dar Al-Hekma, we stand true to our ability to remain academic leaders and maintain the excellence and enthusiasm, she said.
She added: “We encourage our students to make the most of their talents, to always do their best and to realize their full potential. Therefore, we are very proud to see our students’ work published in this catalog as proof of their talent and commitment.”
Dr. Alaa Zaher G. Al- Ban, department chair, said: “The architecture program at Dar Al-Hekma University is committed to providing excellence in education, by linking and filling the gap between the education of architecture, and the need of the market.”
This semester, Al-Ban said, we will graduate 40 architects, raising the strength of the department to 202 students.
“This year, will celebrate our department’s 7th anniversary with 112 architecture graduates. This is a wonderful chance for us to not only take stock of our accomplishments, but also to define our priorities for the next academic year.”
She said the students from all levels are creators — creative, innovative and makers of sustainable designs.
