MANILA: Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will tomorrow, Monday, lift a coronavirus ban on travelers from 10 countries including India, Pakistan, the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia, the presidential spokesperson has said.
The ban, introduced in April and then expanded to more countries in July to prevent the spread of the more contagious Delta variant, will be lifted on Monday, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.
Travelers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia will have to spend 14 days in quarantine upon arrival, Roque said.
Philippines has administered at least 34,112,320 doses of COVID vaccines so far, which is about 15.8 percent of the country’s population. COVID-19 infections in Philippines are at their peak — the highest daily average reported — now at 17,912 new infections reported each day.
There have been 2,061,084 infections and 34,062 coronavirus-related deaths reported in the country since the pandemic began.
