Emirates National Bank of Dubai (NBD) is Dubai’s government-owned bank and one of the largest banking groups in the Middle East in terms of assets.
Founded in 1963 as National Bank of Dubai by then Dubai ruler Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, Emirates NBD is the first national bank established in Dubai.
NBD merged with Emirates Bank International in 2007, forming Emirates NBD. In October 2007, the shares of Emirates NBD were officially listed on the Dubai Financial Market.
Emirates NBD is one of the largest employers in the Middle East, employing more than 9,000 people from 70 nationalities. In 2021, Emirates NBD was featured in Forbes magazine’s Global 2000 and World’s Best Banks lists.
The bank operates through the following business segments: Corporate Banking, Consumer Banking, Islamic Banking, Treasury and other operations.
