RIYADH, 1 April — Al-Ittihad of Jeddah downed local challengers Al-Riyadh 2-1 in the Crown Prince Cup yesterday.
The winners, who led 1-0 at the interval, will next play Al-Hilal in Riyadh.
Sergio scored both the goals for Ittihad, the first in the 11th minute and the second through a spot kick in the 88th minute. Riyadh’s consolation goal came in injury time through Ibrahim Al-Mufarrej.
Ittihad’s Muhammad Al-Khilaiwi was sent off in the 63rd minute and will miss the crucial match with Hilal.
In the second match of the competition played in Makkah, Al-Shabab of Riyadh came back strongly in the second half to defeat Al-Wehda 2-1 after conceding a goal in the 39th minute. Muhammad Al-Harshan put Wehda ahead with a header.
