JEDDAH, 6 April — Al-Ahli recorded a comfortable 3-1 triumph over local foes Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Football League for the King’s Cup here yesterday to finish at the top of the table with 51 points.
Ittihad, who finished fourth with 37 points, took the lead in the 37th minute through Sergio. But the sending off of defender Husain Mabrouk in the 45th minute upset their defense and they conceded three goals in 13 minutes.
After Tunisian Maher Kenzari netted the equalizer for Ahli in the 45th minute through a penalty. Khaled Qahwaji made it 2-1 three minutes later and Al-Khaibari headed in the third goal in the 58th minute.
Sergio missed a penalty for Ittihad and theough the numbers were equal when Ahli defender Fawzi Shehri was shwon the red card in the 58th minute, Ahli held on to emerge winners.
In a match played in Onaiza, Najma defeated Riyadh 2-1. Wehaibi and Harbi Ahmad scored for Najmah while Omar Trawri netted the goal for Riyadh.
Qadesia were relegated to the second division after losing 3-1 to Shabab yesterday. Khaled, Saeed Owairan and Majrashi for Shabab and Anderson for Qadesia were the scorers. Sadoos were to join Qadesia in the second division next year.
In yet another match, Ittifaq scraped 3-2 past Wehda. Megmer, Humran and Shuaib scored for Ittifaq while both Wehda’s goal were scored by Adamawi.
