KACST denies firewall report

RIYADH, 23 April —  A Saudi official responsible for Internet security at the King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology denied yesterday reports of Saudi government establishments using the Firewall 1 manufactured by the Israeli firm CheckPoint and the likely vulnerability of these establishments to Israeli hackers. However, the official did not deny the possibility of some local companies using the software. The official was responding to warnings against Israeli hackers to the security systems for civil and military data which cost the Kingdom billions of dollars.
