JEDDAH, 26 April — Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, inaugurated a tumor treatment center at the King Abdul Aziz Medical City for the National Guard here yesterday. The crown prince also laid the foundation stone for a guest house attached to the center.
Prince Faisal ibn Abdullah ibn Muhammad, head of the National Guard, Western Region, welcomed the crown prince to the function.
In his speech, Fahd Abdul Jabbar, executive director of health affairs division in the National Guard, said the tumor center named after Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman ibn Faisal Al-Saud would be a great help for patients in the Kingdom’s western and south-western regions including Madinah.
It would spare the patients the trouble of traveling either to Riyadh or abroad in search of advanced treatment. The center is equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment facilities, he said.
The hospital which has a capacity to handle 6,000 patients annually was built at a cost of SR103 million in its first phase. There is provision for expansion. Health projects worth SR125 million will also be implemented in the city shortly, Abdul Jabbar said.
The center, which consists of specialty departments and outpatient clinics, is equipped with the most advanced treatment and diagnostic facilities. The center is staffed by well-qualified doctors, nurses and technical staff, Abdul Jabbar added. The nationalization of technical, professional and administrative jobs has also been addressed. The director general and patients presented mementos to the crown prince who toured the clinics and other facilities at the center after the inauguration. The guest house attached to the center is meant for tumor patients who require special care.
