JEDDAH, 26 April — Ittihad’s football fans flocked to the Jeddah Corniche covering it with their black and yellow banners celebrating their team’s victory against their neighboring competitors Al-Ahli.
Ittihad won the game, which was the second leg, 4-2 after ending the first leg, which was played last week, 0-0.
This victory qualifies Ittihad to the final game against the winner of the match between Al-Nasr and Al-Hilal which will be played today.
The goals of the match were scored by Sergio, Ittihad’s Brazilian professional player, who scored three goals and Muhammad Noor, one goal. Ittihad’s first three goals were scored in the first half, where Sergio scored the first and third goal and Muhammad Noor who played one of his greatest matches in this season, scored the second one.
In the second half, Al-Ahli scored two goals first by Talal Al-Misha’l and the second by Obaid Al-Dosari, who both are the Saudi national team’s main strikers.
And while Al-Ahli men were fighting to turn the match into a draw Sergio added more sadness for them when he added the fourth goal at the very last minute.
This victory has added more spirit to Ittihad’s ‘ferocious’ players who became more hungry to conquer both this cup — the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques league cup — and Prince Abdullah’s Cup where they will face Al-Ittifaq from Dammam in the final match soon.
Sergio, the hat trick striker of the match, said after the game that this is the real Ittihad, and it will be like this when they play for the sake of their loyal fans. “We gave 100% of our energy tonight and we will continue playing like this until we get the cup,” said Sergio.
Extra police force had to be deployed at the Corniche to keep the “hyper fans” under control.
Ittihad will now meet winner of the match between Al-Nasr and Al-Hilal.
