Al-Shabab win Asian Cup Winners’ Cup

JEDDAH, 20 May— Abdallah Al-Shihane scored a hat trick as Al-Shabab of Saudi Arabia won the Asian Cup Winners’ Cup when they thrashed Dalian Shide of China 4-2 in the final before boisterous home fans here last night.


Abdallah Al-Shahrani opened the scoring for Al-Shahbab in the 24th minute when he converted a penalty. Al-Shahbab continued with their domination of the game when Abdallah Al-Shihane scored the first of his three goals and made it 2-0 in the 25th minute.


Japanese striker Yank Song gave Dalian some relief  by scoring his team’s first goal in the 26th minute. But Dalian joy was short-lived when Shabab’s goal-scoring machine Al-Shihane sparkled again in the 49th minute and scored his second goal.


Dalian was completely destroyed when the surging Al-Shabab took their tally to 4-1 in the 74th minute when Al-Shihane used his magic boot and completed his hat trick.


Hao Haidong’s last-gasp goal made it 4-2 at the buzzer. Earlier, Shimizu S-Pulse of Japan grabed the third place by beating Esteghlal of Iran, 3-1.
