RIYADH, 20 May — A 12-member team from the National Defense College in New Delhi is arriving here tomorrow on a five-day visit.

The team is headed by Brigadier Dipak Mukherjee, the college secretary, and includes Indian officers, besides two members from friendly countries Ghana and Brunei, according to a press statement issued by the Indian Embassy here.

The visit by the NDC team comes in the wake of a visit to Riyadh by India’s Minister of External Affairs Jaswant Singh in January this year. Singh’s perception of ties between India and the Kingdom envisions a contemporary partnership “for security, stability and development,” the embassy statement said.

The National Defense College of India, inaugurated by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1960, is one of the most prestigious institutions in the country for advanced training in national security. The institution prepares officers selected from the defense forces and the civil service for higher responsibility.

A team from the Saudi Armed Forces Staff College had visited India in June 1989, after which an NDC team had come to the Kingdom in 1990.
