CAIRO, 21 May — Al-Ittihad of Saudi Arabia defeated Al-Ahli of Egypt 3-2 via the golden goal to win the King Fahd Cup here yesterday. This is the third major win for the Jeddah team who had earlier won the King’s Cup and the Crown Prince Cup.
The golden goal was netted in the fourth minute of extra-time by Hassan Al-Yami who had also scored another goal earlier.
Ittihad wasted many chances in the first half but took the lead in the 14th minute when Sergio netted after receiving a pass from Al-Yami. Ahli equalized in the 56th minute when Alaa Ibrahim scored. Two minutes later Al-Yami put Ittihad ahead again.
Khalid Bebu’s feeble kick into the goal still found the mark and the scores were again equal at 2-2.
