JEDDAH, 30 May — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd held talks here yesterday with Yemen’s President Ali Abdullah Saleh on strengthening bilateral cooperation and major Arab and global issues. The talks were attended by Crown Prince Abdullah, deputy premier and commander of the National Guard, and Prince Sultan, second deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation.
Saleh said Saudi-Yemeni relations were progressing continuously, realizing the hopes and aspirations of the two peoples. Speaking to reporters on arrival, Saleh said the border treaty signed by the two countries last June had ushered in a new era in their ties. He invited Saudi businessmen to invest in Yemen, adding that his government would provide them with all facilities and guarantees.
Saleh awarded the Republican Medal, his country’s top medal, to King Fahd in appreciation of the Saudi king’s efforts in reaching the border treaty between the two countries. He presented the Unity Medal to Prince Sultan. (SPA)
