RIYADH, 2 January — The General Organization for Technical Education and Vocational Training is currently investigating the eligibility of 40 private commercial institutes Kingdomwide to offer quality training to students and qualifying them for the job market.
GOTEVOT aims to make sure that the private institutes adhere to technical education statutes and regulations when offering the advertised courses.
GOTEVOT also will review the effectiveness of the courses offered in satisfying the actual needs of the job market in the Kingdom.
A committee set up by the private education department is currently inspecting the institutes both to guarantee the teaching standards and establish performance guidelines in order to benefit their students.
The inspection coincides with the GOTEVOT's efforts to upgrade the technical education curricula. The organization earlier completed a study on the viability of linking technical colleges with universities, the source said.
However, the source did not disclose the result of the inspections so far made by the organization, except that the institutes which did not meet the specifications of the organization will be closed down. Institutes incapable of improving their academic level in line with the current demands of the modern employment market will also not be allowed to continue, the source added. (Al-Eqtisadiah)
