RIYADH, 24 January — Japan's Sumitomo Corporation has won the license to establish a major desalination plant in the Jubail Industrial City. The project will require a capital investment of SR8.25 billion. This was announced here yesterday by Prince Abdullah ibn Faisal ibn Turki, governor of the General Investment Authority.

The plant, the largest investment project licensed by the authority since it was formed last year, will supply 730,000 cubic meters of water daily and 700 megawatt/hour of electricity and employ a large number of Saudis, the prince said. The HTA's one-stop service center in Riyadh issues licenses for investment projects and extends the necessary services to investors. (SPA)
