Salman starts Portugal visit

LISBON, 20 June — Riyadh Governor Prince Salman arrived here yesterday on a several-day official visit at the invitation of the Portuguese government. He was received on arrival at the airport by high-ranking Portuguese officials and Saudi Ambassador Muhammad ibn Hamoud Al-Rasheed. Prince Salman is accompanied by a high-level delegation including Prince Faisal ibn Salman, Riyadh Mayor Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Muqrin and Abdul Rahman Al-Jeraisy, chairman of the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
According to Ambassador Al-Rasheed, Prince Salman is the highest-ranking Saudi official to visit Portugal since 1980. He said the two countries would soon sign an agreement for cooperation in economic, cultural and youth areas. Lisbon’s mayor highlighted the significance of the royal visit and said it would play a big role in strengthening bilateral ties. “Portugal is proud of its Islamic and Arab heritage,” he added.
