JEDDAH, 13 February — The head of the Council of Islamic Scholars in Montenegro, Sheikh Idris Demerovic, met in Jeddah yesterday with Dr. Abdul Wahab Noorwali, assistant secretary-general of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY), and discussed with him the conditions of Muslims in the small Adriatic republic. Sheikh Demorovic said he was seeking help to build an Islamic high school to for the Muslim population in the republic. He said they had managed to secure a plot of land with the help of the government but are short of funds for the construction of the school. He said the school will cost SR1.8 million but due to the precarious situation in the republic Muslims were unable to raise the money and are now seeking the help from abroad. Muslims make up 34 percent of the half a million population of Montenegro. (AN)
