JEDDAH, 26 June — The Monster Trucks are in town and their breathtaking performances enthrall huge crowds attending the spectacular stunt show at the Ministry of Education Stadium off Madinah Road.
The show includes motorbike jumps, trucks driving on two side wheels and trucks jumping over a row of two or three cars. The audiences — especially the children — were amazed with what they saw when some parents volunteered to join the truck and jeep drivers while performing their stunts.
The three trucks, White Spider, Black Scorpion and Desert Night aggressively hunt the cars in the arena.
The drivers of the trucks and the stunt riders are all young Saudis who were trained especially to present the show.
The trucks are equipped with methanol-powered engines, each producing 1,000 horsepower, positioned behind the driver. The lightweight carbon fiber body perched on the chassis over two meters above the ground sits on a sturdy 4-link suspension. The immense power output is delivered through two-meter diameter tires. The driver of the truck is strapped into wraparound safety cage and is held in place by a five-point race-car type restraining system.
The stadium show also boasts a musical fountain and a hot-air balloon ride that is open to the public.
All shows will go on every day during the summer festival, with prices ranging from SR25 to SR40.
