ALKHOBAR, 26 June — Yesterday morning saw the latest twist in the legal wrangling of Saudi national Naif Al-Yousef, accused in the kidnapping and murder of Abdulaziz Al-Koohaji. The defendant’s attorney, Gary Luzow appeared in a Denver District Courtroom and asked for additional time to file a motion requesting bond for Al-Yousef. According to Lynn Kimbrough, spokesperson for the Denver District Attorney’s Office, a positive outcome to such a request is not likely since murder is almost always a “no bond” situation.
At this point Al-Yousef has gone through the preliminary hearing in which it was determined that there was enough evidence to move forward with a trial. However, due to several motions filed by his lawyer, he has yet to enter a formal plea of guilty or not guilty at the arraignment. That has now been rescheduled to take place on July 19.
