RIYADH, 30 June — The International Indian School, Riyadh (IISR) is planning to formulate a new academic policy after organizing two demonstration sessions for the parents featuring the examination results of Grade 10 and Grade 12.
Under the new policy, the school authorities will seek suggestions from parents to improve the academic standards following the introduction of some changes in the teaching methods.
The chairman of the IISR managing committee, W.H. Rizvi, and M. J. Siddiqui, principal of the school, said that the IISR had introduced some changes including “teach and test” method with an aim to improve the performance of the students.
The IISR is one of the largest overseas Indian institution with over 8,500 student. It employs some 350 teachers and support staff.
Referring to the results of the CBSE examinations, Rizvi and Siddiqui said the “IISR has kept up the glorious tradition of academic excellence in the board examination of 2000-2001. In CBSE Grade 10 examination, 284 students were declared successful out of 287 students, who had appeared in the examination.
“A total of 48 students got first class with distinctions whereas 168 students secured first class”.
In Grade 12 examination, a total of 173 students had appeared, out which 165 were declared successful, 54 of them secured distinctions and 123 students were placed in the first class.
The chairman said that the overall performance of girls is better than the boys. The school officials noted that this year’s results of Grade 12 were better than the previous year.
On the efforts of the IISR committee, to improve academic performance, Rizvi said that the students of this school had scored higher marks in comparison to their counterparts in other international Indian schools in the Kingdom.
“The managing committee highly appreciates the best efforts made by the principal , who introduced new changes to ensure academic excellence enabling the students to secure high marks and positions”, he said.
