DAMMAM, 2 July — Authorities in the Eastern Province are investigating a claim submitted by a Saudi citizen against his Bahraini wife for deporting his three sons without his knowledge. The husband stated that his wife deported his sons through the King Fahd Causeway. One of the three sons left the Kingdom using his own passport without the consent from his father while the passports of the other two sons are in the custody of the father. The father and the authorities do not know how they managed to travel without passports. The passport department in the Eastern Province confirmed that the case has been presented to the concerned authorities. Moreover, the husband said that the wife’s attorney confirmed the departure of the three sons. The attorney filed a claim against the husband demanding provision of residence in Bahrain for the sons and the handing over of the passports in his custody. The wife, on the other hand, filed a case against the husband in a Bahraini court demanding payment for telephone, water and power bills in addition to monthly alimony of SR4,500 along with another case filed by the wife asking the court for a divorce. The husband, in turn, rejects all such claims. He insists on raising his sons in the Kingdom and he will assume full responsibility toward his sons. The husband also said that the wife’s claims are only a smokescreen to the basic issue of her taking the children illegally. He bases his claim by her non-attendance in court.
