Bride flees home on wedding night

DHUBA, 4 July — A young girl who did not like the man her father had chosen as her husband, disappeared on the night of their wedding the other day in this northwestern port town.

The girl, who fled to a relative’s house, said the marriage had been fixed without her consent, the Okaz newspaper reported yesterday.

The girl said she had registered a protest with the authorities against her father’s action. Local people said such an incident was first of its kind in their memory.
