RIYADH, 5 July — Community leader Nawawi Mabaning has been named Most Enthusiastic Toastmaster for year 2000-2001 by the different Toastmasters clubs in Riyadh.
Mabaning was chosen on the basis of his outstanding performance and participation in the club’s communication and leadership program, a press release issued by group said.
His achievements include being the present governor for Riyadh Area 3, charter president of the Ranao Toastmasters Club #3082-U, founder/mentor of the Knights Toastmasters Club 6374-U, delegate to the Gulf Toastmasters Annual Convention (GTAC) in Qatar in 1998 and in Dubai in 1999, director for administration of GTAC 2000 in Manama Bahrain.
Mabaning was named outstanding toastmaster for year 1999 and 2000, said the group’s spokeswoman, Marilyn Molina.
As a community leader, Mabaning was president of AMSUDA International from 1997-1998 and of SHAKBA International during the same period.
He was named Outstanding OFW Community leader in 1998.
Presenting the latest award to Mabaning was outgoing area governor Syed Abu Zafar. The presentation of the award was timed with the installation of incoming Riyadh area governors and officers and the first ever Gulf Tall Tales Contest.
The winners of the contest were: Jacob Abraham (Area II), 3rd place; Luz Escobido (Area III), 2nd place; and Joeric Guanzon, (Area II), 1st place. They were given trophies by DTM Janaki Pratazad.
The affair was attended by different Toastmasters clubs in Riyadh, guests from private and government sectors and private individuals.
The Toastmasters Club, a US-based private organization, has various chapters around the world for the purpose of helping develop communication and leadership skills among interested members.
