GCC games named after Prince Fahd

JEDDAH, 29 July — The ninth senior and second youth GCC athletic championships, which are to be held in the Eastern Province on April 10-12, will be named after the late Prince Fahd ibn Salman, who died after a heart attack last Wednesday. This was disclosed by the Saudi Arabian Amateur Athletic Federation.


“Prince Sultan ibn Fahd, chief of the Youth Welfare Presidency, has directed that the championships be named after Prince Fahd ibn Salman in appreciation of his great services to the nation while he was the deputy governor of the Eastern Province,” the federation said.


The federation yesterday distributed the championships’ logo which carries the photo of Prince Fahd, the eldest son of Riyadh Governor Prince Salman.
