RIYADH, 13 August — The price of air guns has fallen to between SR60 and SR200 from a usual price range of SR400 and SR4000.

Market experts say this is largely because customs duties have been reduced on the guns and the seasonal migration of birds into the Kingdom is now under way.

Spanish, British, German and Czech air guns are the most popular.

German air guns have traditionally been the favorite, but because they are relatively heavy customers are increasingly turning to those made in Spain, which are light and equipped with extra safety devices.

New air guns, some of which can load eight lead pellets at a time, are also now available on the market.

Repair shops are busy as owners of older guns service them before the main bird-shooting season gets under way.

Legal requirements for air-gun ownership call for the owner to be at least 19 years old, for the gun to be stored away from children and only used during the bird-shooting season.
