JEDDAH, 18 August — An unidentified robber broke into a Saudi citizen’s car while the latter was praying at a mosque and ran away with the SR250,000 that had been left there, Al-Riyadh Arabic newspaper reported yesterday quoting police.

The Saudi had withdrawn his complete savings, which he hoped to invest in a project that would provide his family with a stable income. At first, he put the money on the front seat of his car, but then hid it under the spare tire in the trunk and went into the mosque to pray.

When the man emerged from the mosque and realized what had happened, he cried out for help and locals who gathered around him immediately called the police.

Police believe that the robber must have been following his victim.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Province a woman had the shock of her life when she discovered that she was singing at the second marriage of her husband.

The woman was among a group of singers invited to enliven the wedding. “During the party, she incidentally asked who was the groom. She collapsed when she learned it was her own husband,” Okaz newspaper reported.

The family of the bride had invited the female singer without knowing that her husband was their daughter’s new bridegroom.
