RIYADH, 22 August — A branch of the proposed Federation of Asian Muslim Youth (FAMY) is to open in Saudi Arabia, where several Islamic organizations and individuals have come forward to support the launch of the organization.
It aims to promote unity among Muslims in Asia, and to set up education and dawa projects.
“The headquarters will be in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur, and the formation of FAMY has been endorsed by more than 25 major Muslim youth and student organizations across the Asian continent,” said Salman A. Siddiqui, who has been appointed first chairman of the Islamic agency.
Siddiqui, in the Kingdom seeking soliciting support from Saudi-based Islamic organizations, noted that their backing will be crucial if this — or indeed any — international Islamic organization is to be successful.
Siddiqui added that the organization will also open liaison offices in the UAE, the UK and the US.
The forum’s target membership is students, young people, women, and the members of a large number of professional organizations from all over the Asian continent.
