RIYADH, 7 October — Six Pakistani children and their parents were killed and a seventh child critically injured when their car collided head-on with a jeep on the road leading to Qatar.
The father, mother and children aged between three months and nine years were killed instantly on Friday, while an eight-year-old daughter was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the jeep, an Emirati national, was also killed.
The accident took place in the Ahsa province on a road linking Saudi Arabia to Qatar, Oman and the UAE.
Also on Friday, a Saudi and three Egyptian workers died in another head-on collision in Wadi Al-Dawasir.
In yet another accident, a Saudi national died when his car crashed on to an electric post on Al-Shaara-Qalwa Road in Baha. The car overturned and caught fire after the crash. A passenger in the car suffered serious burns.
The Kingdom has one of the world’s highest rates of road accidents.
