Stage set for Jeddah Motor Show

JEDDAH, 19 October — The stage is set for the annual Jeddah International Motor Show, which opens under the auspices of Communications Minister Dr. Nasser Al-Salloum at 5 p.m. on Sunday. On display will be wide ranging automobiles — from sports cars to off-road utilities, luxury cars to motorcycles, and light commercial to heavy vehicles.

Giving details of the show, which marks its 23rd anniversary, senior executives of Al-Harithy Co. for Exhibitions, which is organizing the event, told a press conference yesterday that the six-day show will display 2002 models of automobiles as well as car accessories and maintenance equipment at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s venue — International Exhibition & Convention Center at Madinah Road.

Running alongside the motor show, is auto care that will showcase the industry side of the automotive scene: Garage equipment, accessories, refinishing and publications.

Industry specialists will hold a full symposium program during the event with keynote presentations. The automotive symposium will be held from 9.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 22-23.

Topics will include vehicle sales statistics, counterfeit parts, warranties, standards and specifications, motor sport, traffic safety, vehicle insurance, financing and leasing.

A 4X4 show alongside the car exhibition will feature a specially constructed demonstration course opposite the exhibition venue, which is organized in association with Sport Auto magazine.

The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for trade visitors and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. for public.
