Kanoo named diabetes center chief

DAMMAM, 28 October — The managing director of Kanoo Group of Companies, Khaled M. Kanoo, was elected chairman of the Joslin Diabetes Center’s Bahrain Affiliate. Dr. Antoine Kaldany from the Boston-based Joslin Diabetes Center attended the center’s first board of directors meeting in Manama recently. Dr. Kaldany outlined the cooperation that would be extended by JDC to the center. The Boston center will recruit the chief medical officer and heads of some departments. Other staff members will be hired in Bahrain and other GCC countries. The design of a new building for the center, to be located behind the Sulaimaniya Medical Center, is still under study.
