Baha police investigate anthrax scare

BAHA, 5 November — The local police are investigating a complaint from an expatriate that somebody put white powder in a letter to him. The Egyptian worker was sent the letter by his brother, who is working in Abu Dhabi. The worker immediately reported the matter to his sponsor, who took both him and the letter to the police. Both the worker and the sponsor were then rushed to hospital, Al-Madinah newspaper reported yesterday. The Ministry of Health has meanwhile confirmed that no anthrax case has been confirmed anywhere in the Kingdom and all envelopes and packages suspected of being contaminated with anthrax have been examined and tested negative.
