RIYADH, 23 November — The Calabarzon II team keglers gave team captain, Jimmy Ocampo a marvelous 21-2 victory over Split Converters on the 5th week of the Giordano Fashions/OFWBR "Payanigan" Wednesday Regulated Bowling League at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.
The Calabarzon II quintet consisting of experienced and veterans players captured the coveted Team of the Week award through the heroics of Jene Canlas, Rey Dela and Tenz Taeza who sparkled to power the Calabarzon’s astounding win over the Split Converters. Canlas shot a four game series of 758 while Dela and Taeza fired a series of 749 and 731 and four games. Jimmy Ocampo extended splendid support by adding a four game series of 696. Rod Bitoon contributed a series of 493 in three games. Fred "katapat" Lim scored 182 in one game.
For the Split Converters team topscoring was the fastrising Joe Concepcion who toppled a four game series of 732. The duo of Dante Prado and Romy Matic sizzled to post a series of 694 and 691. Marvin Arocena, Jomarie de Luna and Cas Encilla submitted a series of 343, 336 and 314 in two games. Ramon Nilo scored 268 series in two matches. Pep Maghinay’s poured in 837 series in four matches to lift Pangasinan Strikers to humble the Scorpions II of Boy Bartolome. Maghinay’s scoring a game high of 255 in the first game followed 189, 205 and 168 emerged as the bowler of the week holder. Maghinay was also the first bowler to enter the OFWBR 250 club member wherein he will receive a personalized OFWBR jacket. Sharing spotlight with Maghinay were the trios of Phol Grepo, Mario Rosal and Pat Raz who registered a separate four game series of 785, 745 and 728. Jojo Demetrio sealed a series of 686 in four outings.
Fresh from being the Team of the Week holder, scoring well in the Scorpions II are Jun Ego and Joel Alegre who toppled a four game series of 789 and 736. George Avellana downed a series of 524 in three sets.
The Bankeros Atbp team of Jun Pineda rolled-past the SkyFreight Forwarders team of Larry Mondoy. The Bankeros collected 20 big points to climb-up the ladder by grabbing the numero uno spot formerly occupied by the Wizard’s 23 team. James Frizzle and ace Aloy Mier produced a separate four-game series of 824 and 800 to be on top in the Bankeros team. Jun Pineda and Jun Evangelista likewise added a series of 777 and 720 in four sets while the hard-hitting Rodel Yap contributed a series of 386 in two games. Usman Navarro toppled a series of 315 in two outings. The first Filipino bowler to roll a 300 perfect score in the City of Riyadh, Jimmy Medina and Atoy Malubay produced another deadly forms to lead in the SkyFreight Forwarders by carding a separate four-game series of 818 and 800.
