RIYADH, 23 November — Promising Jose Concepcion and the defending champions, the Pangasinan Strikers team keglers displayed impressive performances to emerge as the week’s best achievers by clinching the bowler of the week and the team of the week, respectively on the 4th week of the SkyFreight Forwarders/OFWBR "Pabongahan" Thursday Inter-Province Bowling League at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.
Concepcion, wearing the jerseys of the Laguna Strikers captained by Rolly Manalang burned the lanes to post a four-game series handicap of 843 pinfalls. Concepcion had on lines of 205, 168, 209, and 181 to romp away with the coveted Skyfreight Bowler of the Week award.
The fancied Pangasinan Strikers team mentored by Joey Maningas, the defending champions snatched their third Team of the Week awards by collecting 22 big points during the games over the Metro Five Stars of Bashal Khalaj who snatched 2 points. Phol Grepo now back to his old form led in the Pangasinan by posting a four-game series handicap of 810. Grepo rolled 184 in the first game, followed by a game-high of 236 in the second and another 209 in the third and rolled 169 in the final game. Next to Grepo was the veteran Pep Maghinay who shot a four-game series of 763 in four outings. Yuli Braganza sizzled to score a series of 684 in four matches while Jojo Demetrio submitted a series of 552 in three outings. Wilson Bacala and Joey Maningas contributed a separate two game series of 470 and 426, respectively.
Sharing bowling limelight with Concepcion and the Pangasinan Strikers were the keglers of the MLICB ABB Mixed Stars who got 19 points against the bye-team. The dynamic tandem of Louie Abundo and Jun Bago dazzled to be on top by carding a separate four game series of 796 and 710. The sweet-shooting Nolie Medrano came-in next by pumping-in a series of 662 in four matches. Atoi Ramos and Ramon Perez added a series of 530 and 508 in three games while Mon Teodoro downed 352 series in two games.
The Laguna Strikes and the Bicol Express – Besa teams recorded a separate impressive wins over their respective rivals, the Calabarzon and the Luzvimin Pin Busters. For the Laguna Strikers, leading scorer was the Bowler of the Week honoree, Jose Concepcion with 843 pinfalls, followed by Dante "Cheeney" Prado (737), Jomarie de Luna (622), Boy Galang (527), and Rod Basilio (488). The Laguna Strikers snatched 17 points against 9 points registered by the Calabarzon team. The energetic Henry Sonias led in the Bicol Express with a series of 743. Rizal Dellosa, Dick Segovia and Ferdie Ramos submitted a series of 589, 534 and 526 in three games. Toffee San Jose and Ed "Bentong" Sesperes collected a series of 358 and 355 in two games. At the end of the games, the Bicol Express compiled 17 points while the Luzvimin Pin Busters sealed 4 points.
The Vision II of Alex Bandoy upset the OPNEL Team (12-9) and at the limelight in the Vision II are Mario Samson and Bandoy who toppled a separate four game series of 768 and 755. Remy Pantaleon, Emil Rances and Arman Caraig rolled a series of 555, 546 and 526.
For the OPNEL team, the duo of Reden Tulabut and Jimmy Medina led by posting a four game series of 743 and 715. Team captain, Larry Mondoy fired 601 series in three games while Jun Malana scored 522 series in three outings. Atoy Malubay downed 476 pinfalls in three sets.
The Pampanga Dragons of Roger Bautista sealed 14 points against the no-show team, the Unicap Pampanga captained by Benjie Macatuno. Julian Corro topscored in the Pampanga Dragons with a series of 730, followed by Bautista (643), Frank Ranera (642), Boy Catu (535), Rene Dimapilis (472) and Saudi Egil (359).
