Edith Fashion, Shaheen Ulker & COCG go for championship

JEDDAH, 30 November — After more than three months of basketball action, six teams stood far above the rest will dispute the championship in their respective divisions in the 11th PEBA-New Balance Open Basketball Tournament at the Industrial City area.

Edith Fashion of Mcboy Fontanosa Taiwan Sports, engage Taiwan Sports coached by Juanito Magalang, in the best-of-three series for the Non-Rated Division’s trophy. In the inter-company, Strong Team Division, veteran Arnel Tablante and his Shaheen Ulker challeges Al-Tayyar Plastic coached by Romy Araneta. In the Weak Teams Division, COCG guided by R. Erandio dares Reza Investment coached by T. Sobrepena.

Start of these championship series will be on Nov. 29, pitting Reza Investment versus COCG and Al-Tayyar going up against Shaheen Ulker. The next day will be the turn of Taiwan Sports as it locks horns with Edith Fashion.

Healthlines Sports, distributor of New Balance Shoes in the Kingdom, is the main sponsor of this tournament. Minor sponsors include Pioneer Allianz Insurance Corporation, CMS International Cargo, Al-Hussaini & Company, distributor of Seiko watches in Saudi Arabia, Pinoy Sports, Al-Ain Water, Pepsi-Cola International, Farnas Cargo Services, Achiever’s International School- Jeddah, Jamjoom Foremost Dairy Company, Hempel Paints, Tropicana Restaurant, Papa Johns Restaurant, Al-Hejaz Cargo Services, Singapore Airlines, and Felora Cargo and Freight Services-Manila.

While the teams mentioned earlier prepare for the championship, PEBA President Felix Jordan revealed that the awards ceremony of the 11th PEBA-New Balance Basketball Tournament will be held on Dec. 7 at the Industrial City area. Handsome trophies made in the Philippines will be awarded to teams and individuals.
