SAN DIEGO, California, 14 December — Officials of the Immigration and Naturalization Service in the United States arrested 10 students from Saudi Arabia, Libya, Syria, Sudan, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen on Wednesday night as part of a campaign against foreign students, particularly from the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia, who remain in the country violating immigration regulations.
The arrested students carried valid student visa but have not enrolled for any course. The authorities are expected to make such inspections in other states and counties as well.
Police in Los Angeles had on Wednesday arrested the chairman of the militant Jewish Defense League in an alleged plot to bomb a mosque.
