7,770 towns, villages electrified

RIYADH, 23 December — Minister of Industry and Electricity Hashim Yamani has highlighted the achievements made by the electricity sector in the Kingdom. By the end of last September, electricity had been made available to 7,770 towns and villages. Several training centers have been established for the training of Saudi youths. The electricity sector employs 29,821 people, with Saudis constituting 74 percent. The total generation of power in the country reached 22,147 megawatts. Currently there are 3,722,237 subscribers.
