RIYADH , 4 January — Class B player, Romy Liggayu colored the lanes red to capture the coveted Bowler of the Week award. Liggayu’s dazzling performance lifted the Controllers team to emerge as the team of the week honoree on the 24th week of the STBC Sunday Family Bowling League being played at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.
Liggayu with 19 handicaps per toppled a four game series of 842 on lines of 175, 186, 178 and a game-high of 227 in the final game. Fellow Arcie Consolacion sparkled to share limelight with Liggayu by carding a four game series scratch of 807.
Consolacion rolled 172 in the first game and followed by 203, 208 and 224 in the remaining three games. Ric Feria added a series of 751 in four outings while Ed Esmana collected 493 series in three games. The Controllers team registered 3828 pinfalls and snatched 17 points against the Power Grip to win the games.
Donjie Mapalad led in the Power Grip by posting a four game series of 620 and coming-in next to Mapalad was Almer Cabangon with 559 points. Danny Peralta, Larry "pogi" Manalo and Jorge Gonzales contributed a separate three game series of 388, 352 and 315.
The ABB Tribe team outsmarted the Barkada team (14-0) and grabbing the limelight in the ABB Tribe was the promising Joey Morales who shot a four game series of 717. George Avellana toppled 661 series to follow Morales while Glenn Espiritu and Rita Sison submitted a separate four game series scratch of 661, 659 and 618.
Ace Aloy Mier, the newly crowned masters event champion in the just concluded FOBR Winter Games topscored in the Barkada quintet by carding a four game series of 725 pinfalls. Nino Fajutagana downed 595 series and Oscar Teves poured-in 593 series in four games. Toom Sriprom and Danny Agcaoili pinned-down a series of 522 and 441.
The Philippine Embassy team proved too strong to wallop the Cuadro (13-4). Willie de Mesa and Jolly dela Torre topscored in the Philippine Embassy by posting a separate four game series scratch of 729 and 721. The prolific Arlene Arenas and Joel Alegre chipped-in a separate a series of 696 and 622 in four matches. Gene Disomenea carded a three game series scratch of 419.
The duo of Abdulrahman Jose and Atoy "kabo" Malubay are on top in the Cuadro quintet by posting a separate four game series of 739 and 720. Beth Pagdangan supported Jose and Malubay by sharing her four game series scratch of 644. Dante Cambare scored 511 series in three games.
The PNB Bankeros Atbp team managed by Usman Navarro dismantled the Inevitable (12-8). Romy Cruz of the PNB flew high to be on top by rolling a four game series scratch of 704. Efren Castro and Elmer Penoso pocketed a series of 691 and 673 in four sets. Jun Evangelista knocked-down a series of 527 in three matches while Zeny Siapco fired a series of 339 in two games.
Leading scorers in the Inevitable team were the trios of Noel Marquez, Oca Bernabe and Arnel "vanessa" Garlan. Marquez and Bernabe sparkled a separate series of 733 and 730 while Garland pocketed a series of 712. Rodel Huidem sealed a series of 693 and Fe Cayde posted a series of 511 in three games.

The STBC Sunday Family Bowling League is sponsored by the Philippine National Bank and the Philippine Airlines and organized by the STBC under the chairmanship of Abe Asuncion and co-chairmanship of Egai Asuncion.
Meanwhile, the prestigious 2002 Hajj Goodwill Games hosted and organized by the Filipino Bowlers, Eastern Region is set on Feb. 22, 23 and 24, 2002. The venue of the games is the Algosaibi Hotel Bowling Center. Delegations from the Overseas Filipino Workers Bowlers of Riyadh (OFWBR), the Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Jeddah (FTBJ), the Riyadh-500 Bowlers and the Abha/Khamis Filipino Bowling Group will be seen-in action to contest for the coveted titles in each event. The event is open to all OFW Male bowlers only.
