RIYADH, 11 January — Ellen Bernabe, wearing the jersey of the league leader, unleashed her deadly form to post a towering four- game series of 859, including a string of strikes in the penultimate game, as the Stinger team held off the PNB Bankeros Atbp team (20-6).
The sterling performance of the flamboyant Bernabe considered as one of the best female keglers in the region emerged as the week’s best bowler in the 25th week of the STBC Sunday Family Bowling League being played at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Alleys.
Sharing bowling spotlight with Bernabe were the keglers of the Controllers team who tamed the Barkada squad by garnering a towering 24 big points against 23 points registered by the Barkada. The Controllers snatched their second Team of the Week award.
The back-to-back Team of the Week awardee, the Controllers posted an overall total team output of 3896 pinfalls. The dynamic duo of Rico Feria and Abe Abulencia shone in the Controller’s convincing win over the Barkada by posting a separate four-game series of 781 and 729, respectively.
Cris Tolosa contributed a series of 665 while Susan Sarmiento added a four-game series of 597. Ed Esmana toppled a two-game series of 379.
Top scoring in the Barkada team was Ernee Noto with a four-game series of 733. Aloy Mier came in next to Noto with a series of 724. Nitz Cruz dazzled to score a series of 708. Toom Sriprom and Nino Fajutagana tallied a series of 677 and 634. The Barkada submitted an overall total team output of 3880 points.
The Sabbnet team keglers snatched 23 points to humble the Inevitable team. Showing the way in the Sabbnet team was Rey Dela with a series of 776 in four matches.
Reliable Sante Herrera and Eden Bergonio sparkled a series of 723 and 715 in four outings. Francis Guron and Cecille Solomon rolled a separate series of 680 and 553.
The Inevitable team who collected 8 points against the Sabbnet, saw the tandem of Oca Bernabe and Pauline Kambores on top with a series of 766 and 742. Arnel "Maria Amor" Garlan and Philip Lee fired a separate series of 678 and 677 in four games, respectively. The Inevitable team playing with a blind player collected an overall total team output of 3635.
The undisputed league leader, the Stinger team continued their winning streak to post a 206 victory against the PNB Bankeros. Bowler of the Week awardee, Ellen Bernabe was on top in the Stinger team with 859 series and had on lines of 202, 193, 202 and 191. Art Palustre followed Bernabe with a four- game series scratch of 711, followed by Wilson Ringor (690), Rene Lalata (630) and Rina Labo (605). The hard-hitting Romy Cruz and Vicky Vitug led on the PNB Bankeros by carding a series scratch of 647 and 629 in four games. Jene Canlas rolled 540 series scratch in three games while Jun Evangelista hammered 506 series scratch in three matches. Elmer Penoso and Efren Castro downed a series scratch of 326 and 320 in two games.
The Philippine Embassy humbled the ABB Tribe (20-14) and leading scorer in the Philippine Embassy was Neil Gafur with 697 series scratch scores in four games. Joel Alegre and Gin Disomimba sizzled to post an identical four-game series scratch of 668 while Willie de Mesa and Arlene Arenas collected a series scratch of 670 and 644 in four matches.
Mel Solas top scored in the ABB Tribe with a four-game series scratch of 708. Rita Sison and Joey Morales nailed down a series of 615 and 610 to follow Solas. Glenn Espiritu posted a series of 533 in three games. JB Buyson and Ace Sulit recorded a series of 364 and 306 in two games.
In another match, the Power Grip defeated the Megavolts (16-7) and cornering limelight in the Power Grip were Benny Quebral (647), Marcy Andaya (643) and Rodel Catanghal (627). Danny Peralta scored 407 series in three games and Larry Manalo rolled 249 in two games.
For the Megavolts, on top were Bert Bantilan (640), Lito Junio (603) and Laura Ringor (601). Caloy Palenzuela and Claudio Rapadas rolled a series of 599 and 561 in four sets. The Track Enforcer nipped the Cuadro (16-14) and submitting a convincing scores in the Track Enforcer team was Raul Medina with 729 series scratch scores in four games. Reden "lover boy" Tulabut and the energetic Egai Asuncion sizzled to post a separate four-game series scratch of 696 and 656. Arnel Crizaldo and Alma Lee knocked down a series of 639 and 608.
Cesar Marquez and Rene Estrada led in the Cuadro team by carding a separate four-game series scratch of 756 and 738. Abdulrahman Jose sealed a series scratch scores of 640 in four games. The promising Tess "Ina" Reyes flew high to score a series of 580 while Atoy "kabo" Malubay scored 458 series in three games.
