JEDDAH — The powerhouse team of Al Alamiah Insektos stretched their lead to at least 68.5 points over their closest rival after cornering the team award on the 25th week of the BBG Tuesday Night League here at the Jeddah Bowling Center.

Captained and managed by the Brotherhood Bowling Group honcho Arnold Alday, Al Alamiah posted a blistering 80 points at the expense of the equally powerful squad of MBC.

The ‘Insektos’ tallied 22 points on game one (890), 21 points on the second set (897) and 15 on the final stretch (829). Their 3-game series of 2616 received 22 rank points after all the totals of the 22 participating teams were tapered down.

The start of the match was nerve wrecking and the exchange of marks went crucial frame by frame. Half-way through, however, MBC lost the luster of their swing and the players succumbed to the pressures of the game. After erratic spins and hitting walls of splits MBC recorded unprecedented lows and this week they terribly failed to live-up on their billing. It scored merely 29.5 points.

Al Alamiah capitalized on the impressive agility and prowess of the pair of Nonie ‘Mo-TLSB’ Yap and Mao ‘Zhe Dong’ Orolfo, who blasted the lanes with series of strikes and produced a 3-game series of 721 and 705, respectively. The ‘Insektos’ solidified their claim on the week’s plum when the pair of Arnold Alday and Hashim Guinomla posted a 3-set series of 596 and 594, respectively. The match between Internet @ Kape and Otra Cosa on Lanes 13 and 14 was another down-the-wire thrilling action. After Internet snatched the first game (16.5-11 points), Otra Cosa bounced back with Rudy Punzalan leading the onslaught. He unleashed his ire, drilled eight strikes and produced a big 270 including handicap. Jun Pilipina (222), Val Magsino (205) and skipper Cosa Sta. Ana (213) assisted Rudy to score a total of 910 pins and to claim the maximum 22 points. Internet maintained their usual pendulum swing and submitted a series of 825 (17 points). After two games the two teams were separated by only half of a point with Internet on top (33.5-33 points).

In the deciding set, the pressure in the first three frames went so intense. After the fourth frame, Internet claimed the upper hand with Ishaq Muhammad hitting a ‘turkey’. Rudy Punzalan and Val Magsino maintained their excellent form while Cosa Sta. Ana bogged down after meeting walls of splits. When the game ended Internet At Kape proved superior over Otra Cosa, was awarded 20.5 points for sweeping 890 while Otra Cosa earned 10 (809).

Top Gun bowlers Ruben Medina, Bert Tuvera, Leo Edejer and Rudy Valenzuela clobbered Sarawat Aces throughout the match. The four gunners flashed their outstanding shooting skills, gunned down 72 points at the series of 2552. The Aces carded only 2452 (49 points) in spite of the consistent good games played by Jun Cabral and team captain Rally Zamora.

On Lanes 21 and 22, veteran Cris Villavelez, perfect record holder Rene Santiago, Fred Monson and Nestor Quiteves of SkyFreight Forwarders were too heavy for Libby’s Hot Line to dislodge. Although Libby’s triumvirate of Joey Salvador, Nick Suing and Mar Narvasa were too jittery to handle, SkyFreight prevailed over the undermanned Libby’s Hot Line. SkyFreight unloading crates of 2496 pins and packed up 65 points. Libby’s managed to pull the line with 20.5 points.

‘Consultants’ Raul de los Reyes, Resty Regio, Nestor Casalme and Jerry Valle of Saudi Diyar broke the wings of the ferocious Falcon and they stopped the ‘birds’ to fly high. The explosive encounter of the two fierceful giants produced a final score of 72.5-45 points.

Equipped with the 95-pin handicap per game, the Saudi Diyar quartet wrestled and grounded The Falcons at the start with a score of 21-6 points (877-781). The fiery Falcons stretched their broken wings at its length on the second game but the best it could flap was only 15 points (819) through the pair of Danny Bautista (234) and Bonnie Garcia (221). Saudi Diyar posted 8.5 points (787) when Casalme (225) shot pocket strikes all the way from the 8th frame.

On the final lap, Saudi Diyar took the center stage and rocked JBC with a series of 902 for a maximum 22 points. De los Reyes unleashed his sterling shots and scored 245 including handicap. Valle blasted the lanes with a total output of 236 pins, Casalme fired 227 and Regio shot 194. The Falcons muscled to regain their strength but they could only fly as high as 14 points (820). In another pair of lanes, KKB scored 39.5 points after a 2-1 victory against PICPA-PRO (21). KKB scored the victory (838-750) when Randy Mata bagged 8 strikes for a big 257 and with the assist of Bobby Barraquel (217) on the final game. The ‘accountants’ snatched the second set (798-754) with Paul Antiporda searing six strikes (234). The lackluster match between the team with a logo of four question marks and one exclamation point and the Seiko Team posted 14 and 28 points, respectively. The tandem of Albert Sarte and Obie Ycasas, who produced unprecedented precision, spelled the difference.

N-Ball outscored D’Amigos (43.5-31) when the quartet of Leo Pangilinan, Nap de Guzman, Bien Hermosura and Alex Tabusares swept 858 on the final set and scored 17 points.

The consistency of Ghassan Al Masri was the source of the strength of Thunderballs when they played against Power Strikers on Lanes 11 and 12. Thunderball scored 56 points while Power Strikers submitted 40.

Al Masri blasted the lanes with his scores of 255, 230 and 202 en route to the top honors in the individual category. With a handicap of 16 pins per game, Al Masri claimed the 25th bowler of the week award at a 3-game series of 735.

Al Ahadal Establishment toppled down 869 pins on the final game to increase their earnings up to 57.5 points. Abudawood Trading had a bullish trading on the floor (65 points), hit the levels of 810, 854 and 855 through the stocks of Hero Garcia, Levis Janaban, Emil Payongayong and Rey Abaygar.

Randy Mata of KKB (257), Hassan Al Masri of Thunderball (255), Nonie Yap of Al Alamiah (256) and Joey Salvador of Libby’s Hot Line, fortified their participation to the BBG Elite Club by submitting their second cards. Albert Sarte of Seiko (269), Leo Pangilinan of N-Ball (255) and Rudy Punzalan of Otra Cosa (260) are the new entrants to the Elite Club.

Jimmy Rosillo of PICPA-PRO won a special ‘Sakuna’ prize for making a strike without hitting first the headpin.
