RIYADH, 25 January — Fresh from his holiday vacation, Jun Ego burned the lanes to lift the fiery Scorpions II bowling team to share honors by grabbing the bowler of the week award and the team of the week award, respectively on the resumption of the games, now on its 10th week at the Riyadh Inter-Continental Hotel Bowling Center.
Ego, capitalizing on his 15 handicaps per game tallied a four game series of 840 to capture the Giordano bowler of the week honor. Ego rolled 181, 181 and 179 in the first three games and exploded a high game of 236 in the final game.
For his feat, Ego will receive Giordano t-shirt and Skyfreight 20 kgs. Seafreight cargo voucher. Sharing bowling spotlight with Ego were the keglers of the Scorpions II team captained by Boy Bartolome who clinched the team of the week award by snatching 24 big points against the no-show team, the Calabarzon I of Rene Caseda. The mighty Scorpions posted a remarkable total team series handicap of 3899 on lines of 949, 966, 991 and 993. Bartolome who lost the bowler of the week award from his fellow Ego by merely seven pins toppled a four game series of 833 (213, 166, 212 and 162). Gene Disomimba and Joel Alegre sparkled to post a separate four game series of 771 and 761 while Jun Martin added a three game series of 565.
The Calabarzon II under the leadership of Jimmy Ocampo brushed aside the Pin-Heads of Egai Asuncion (20-6). Benjie Domado rolled a big round to sizzle a convincing four game series of 802. Domado’s high of 257 rolled in the second game, erased the previous score of Pep Maghinay (255) to be the current individual high game scratch holder. Promising Fred "Pido" Villarosa, titlist Ellen "Feliciti" Bernabe and Rey Dela dazzled to score a separate four game series of 748, 714 and 713, respectively. Jene Canlas registered a three game series of 478 while Ocampo scored 192 I one game.
Leading scorers in the Pin Head squad are Ric Urrutia, Sr. and the energetic Egai Asuncion with a series of 732 and 718 in four games. Joey Geronimo and the centennial Santi Herrera chipped-in a separate series of 693 and 683. Rene "rocky" Clemente hooked-up a series of 663 in four outings.
The Pangasinan Strikers mentored by Yuli Braganza posted 18-11 victory over the Sunrise. The reliable Vher Cayago led in the Pangasinan by carding a four game series of 800. Phol Grepo and Braganza contributed a series of 762 and 760 in four matches. Pat Raz scintillate to score a series of 688 and Pep Maghinay pocketed a series of 634 in four matches.
The Pangasinan Strikes collected overall total team series handicap of 3644 pinfalls.
For the Sunrise team piloted by Eden Bergonio, topscoring are Francis Guron and Clem Salazar who fired a separate four game series of 746 and 718. The hard-hitting Ed Acosedo hammered 562 series in three outings. Glen Mariano submitted a series of 557 in three matches while Bashar Al-Khalaj and Eden Bergonio downed a separate three game series of 519 and 518, respectively.
The Wizard’s 23 team engineered by Ernie Gonzales clobbered the Split Converters (15-9). Fouding the right target to topscore in the Wizards was Gonzales with 821 series in four games. Coming-in next to Gonzales was Johnny de Asis who fired a four game series of 771. Mar Samson sizzled to score a series of 692 in four sets. Emil Rances downed 513 series in three games and Simon Montero scored a series of 435 in three games.
Romy Matic flew high to lead in the Split Converters team by carding a four game series of 715. Team captain Rolly Manalang and Jomari de Luna together with Dante "cheeney" Prado submitted a separate series of 563, 560 and 531. Marvin Arocena had 464 series in three sets while Joe Concepcion garnered a series of 373 in two games. The PNB Bankeros Atbp mentored by Jun Pineda proved too strong over the E-Banking of Ely Reyes to win the match (13-9).
