KFSH-RC set to join SCBA fray

JEDDAH, 1 February — Foraying into big time basketball for the very first time, King Faisal Specialist Hospital under the sponsorship of Samir Photographic Supplies (Kodak) is set to join 30 other teams in the forthcoming 3rd Saudi Companies Basketball Invitational Tournament at the Al-Ittihad on Feb. 15.

KFSH-RC club chairman Naif Al Dabbagh and team manager Talal Basonbul approved the move according to basketball team coordinator Ms. Mila Saballe and is in line with the sports expansion program of the hospital. KFSH-RC distinguished themselves in the volleyball tournaments last year and playing coach Alvin Bautista is hopeful that the newly-assembled basketball squad will be as competitive as their volleyball counterpart.

Gasan Tashkandi, Dennis Uayan, Jacob Boul, Bill Projo, Edwin Linganay, Edgardo Ramirez, Kim Rendo Younis, Hariri, Noel Ramos, Alvin Serrano, Lorenzo Soliveres, Jamir Dula and R. de la Cruz are the players who will suit up for the KFSH-Kodak lineup. The inter-hospital division includes teams from King Khalid Natonal Guard, King Fahad Armed Forces, Dr. Erfan, GNP and Dr. Soliman Fakieh.

The inter-supermarket division will be composed of teams from Danube Supermarket, Sawary Superstore, United Panda Azizia, Al-Ray, Giant Stores, Marhaba, Bin Dawood and Watani Supercenter.

The inter-company bonafide division will be divided into Group A and B. Defending champion AMS-Baeshen leads the cast in Group A including Al-Arabie Decor, El Khereiji, King Faisal Naval Base, Zahid Tractor, Jeddah Cable and ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel. Group B will be made up of Sawary (Fun Marina), Danube Hypermarket, Electro Decor, Al-Yanabie, Saudi Diyar, Tazaj Fakieh and Burger King.

The inter-school division and inter-commercial open rated division have four teams that confirmed participation.
