SR300 million hospital project approved

MAKKAH, 8 February — The authorities have approved the construction of a 400-bed hospital at an estimated cost of SR300 million at Aziziah in Makkah, Health Minister Osama Shubokshi said here yesterday.

The health project also includes the construction of a SR60 million hospital to handle emergency cases at Mina in addition to the development and maintenance of Mina General Hospital.The hospital at Arafat has already been expanded and is equipped to take care of anyone who falls sick among the huge influx of pilgrims. The ministry has recruited 80 consultant doctors from Europe and America and 80 Malaysian female nurses to serve at the health centers and hospitals in Makkah. More than 9,600 doctors and nurses will serve in various hospitals in Arafat, Muzdalifa and Mina over the Haj period. Eighty-five new ambulances have also been readied.
