MADINAH, 8 February — The prize distribution ceremony for 3rd Fuchs GT Super cricket tournament was held recently in Dar Al-Hijrah InterContinental Hotel.
Eight teams were participated in the tournament which was sponsored by Al-Hamrani Fuchs Petroleum for third consecutive years, under the auspicious of Madinah Cricket Association.
Zafar Talpur, the vice president of Fuchs Petroleum, was the chief guest of the ceremony, while manager for sales promotion and advertising for Fuchs Petroleum Azher Iqbal was invited as an especial guest, to witness the function. Abdul Aziz Abu Laban and Adnan Basheer, representatives of Saudi Arabian Airlines, were also attended the function.
Dr. Syed Insram Ali, Dr. Mujahid, poet and engineer Zahid Ameen and Ahmed Hamza Khalil, were among the dignitaries.
Madinah Cricket Association also availed the opportunity to have the company of Mumtaz, brother in-law of Paksitan’s former Test cricketer and fast bowler Jalal Uddin who got first hat trick in One-Day International, was also present at the function.
The ceremony was started with the recitation of Holy Qur’an by Abdullah Saleem. Hashmat Qazi, the member of MCA executive council, inaugurated the ceremony by giving a brief to the audience about the tournament. Syed Insram Ali, Abdul Aziz Abu Laban and Hamza Khaleel were also addressed the audience.
MCA president Zahid Ali thanked the chief guest Zafar Talpur for giving such a precious time to grace the ceremony. He also paid tribute to the management of Fuchs Petroleum for their continuous support to Madinah Cricket Association. Zahid Ali also advised to each and individual players to maintain high degree of discipline. He also praised the cooperation from the media.
In his speech, Zafar Talpur, the chief guest, expressed his confidence in MCA and announced the continuous support in future. He also announced that Fuchs Petroleum to sponsor MCA tour to Dahran in March.
Later, he handed over the prizes to the winning teams and award winners. Runners-up trophy for third Fuchs GT Super received by the captain of Lana Printing Nasrullah Niazee while the winners’ trophy picked up by Pak Madinah captain Muhammad Afzal. Ijaz from Pak Madinah was announced man-of-the final while Nadeem from Lana Printing and Asim Zain from Pak Madinah won the men-of-semifinal awards.
Special trophy was given to Hamza Madnee who was among the first under seventeen team, sent by Saudi Cricket Board to participate in the ten nations cricket tournament organized by International Cricket Council in Pakistan.
