AL-AHSA, 26 February — An expatriate, who disappeared while working as a driver for an Alkhobar family six months ago and then resurfaced here as a butcher, is now facing deportation, a newspaper reported yesterday.

According to a report by Al-Jazirah daily, the expatriate’s Saudi employer was surprised to find his driver slaughtering an animal in the backyard of a relative whom he was visiting during the Eid Al-Adha holidays.

On the morning of the Eid, the relative hired a butcher to slaughter a sacrificial animal. When the butcher arrived, the employer’s daughter told him that their driver was in the backyard slaughtering the sheep.

Though the driver tried to explain his plight and how he ended up as a butcher, the employer was not convinced. He called the police, and the fugitive is now awaiting deportation.
